Law needed to protect informants
Transperancy International Cambodia yesterday called on the authorities to fulfill their commitment to the introduction of a whistleblower law, saying it would be key in protecting those who otherwise might not call out corruption.
Corruption Keeping Economy ‘Mostly Unfree’
Cambodia’s “Economic Freedom”—a broad measure of how well individuals and businesses can create and protect their wealth —was classed as “mostly unfree” in a new report released by the Washington-based Heritage Foundation, which identified corruption and bureaucracy as impediments to free markets.

Cambodia scored very poorly on a perceived corruption index, put out each year by Transparency International, but a government spokesman says the report doesn’t reflect the “effort” the government has put into combating the practice.
Ministry of Justice to Propose Official Salary Increases
The Ministry of Justice will request a salary raise for all of its judges, clerks and prosecutors, and has plans to create mobile court hearings, according to court officials yesterday.
